Addendum - Kazutoshi Ueda

· Myriad Leaves

In my series covering translations of H. C. Andersen's The Emperor's New Clothes, I have encountered several notable translators and linguists, who contributed their own versions of Andersen's famous tale.

Kazutoshi Ueda in particular played not just a prominent role in translating Andersen's works, but also in terms of forming what would later become known as Standard Japanese, in part based off the Tokyo dialect.
